WRATH, THE SECOND OF THE DEADLY SEVEN

DEATH BY 7

READING FOR THE WEEK

Genesis 4:1-16

As you read, think of some of the emotions that Cain may have felt that may have led to the murder of Able.

Can you think of times in which you have fallen victim to the very emotions, feelings and actions of Cain. Hopefully not murder, in the physical sense.

Wrath, the second of the deadly seven.

Cain didn’t have a right relationship with the Lord; as such, wrath overtook Cain’s heart and he sinned against both God and man.

As we consider this, how would you answer the following?

Q: In your life, what is anger usually a sign of? Discontent? Not getting your way? Hurt pride? Jealousy? Explain.

Q: What is the best advice you have been given on how to deal with anger?

Anger in and of itself isn’t sin, but when it is unrighteous and uncontrolled, it quickly becomes sin and causes the angry person to sin further. Wrath, also known as “rage,” is uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger. Wrath, in its purest form, presents with self-destructiveness, violence, and hate. Feelings of anger can manifest in different ways, including impatience, revenge, and self-destructive behavior. Ultimately, wrath is sin because it defies God’s command to love others as He loves us.

Verse Of The Week:

Ephesians 4:26 (KJV) 26  Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

I hope you get a chance to read the passages and prepare for Sunday both in study and in prayer. God Bless and have a great week.
